I'll Admit It

Yes - I'll admit it I read Perez Hilton pretty much every day (sometimes two times a day). I think it's hysterical and ridiculous and a nice break from the stress of everyday life. And come one - that shit he does to the pictures is immature and freakin funny as hell.

Well when I opened it up today who do I see? My man Trent Reznor being quoted off his website.

I guess that means you finally made it huh Trent? Getting yourself posted on Perez? I bet you wept with joy - yeah right.

For those Nine Inch Nails fans who have been hiding under a rock check out their homepage/blog as they are letting us in on bits and pieces of the new recordings. Sometimes it pictures and sometimes its youtube video stuff. The funniest part is that people can comment and some of the comments get really really nasty. I'll never understand that. Why bother to check the site and comment if you don't like Trent, what he stands for or his music? Move along people - nothing to see here.

And more goodies for you Nine Inch Nails fans - check out the remix site. There is some unbelievable stuff on here and you can download it all for free. Just another reason to love the man....

UPDATE: OK so most of my friends know that I was a Buffy and Angel addict. But there is this whole fan fiction underworld on the web and I love it. I read fan fiction all the time - and some of it should be rated freakin X. Check it out here. It's just like reading a book - it's written and posted in chapters and some of the writing is really tremendous.

Mom Update

My mom is out of surgery and doing well. Thanks to all of you out there in blog land that sent me your well wishes - it was very sweet.

So drove in and out of Boston today with my dad. I love him but MAN is he a lot of work. He is 69 and losing his hearing so he thinks he's muttering under his breath and believe me he's not. His way of dealing with being in an uncomfortable situation is to say inappropriate (but often funny) things. Some people take this well some don't. By the end of the trip I was exhausted - he is, as I said, a lot of work. But he's my dad and I love him.

Wrote three pages while I was in the hospital waiting room so that's good. I can't tell you how happy I am to not be at work. I'm going to make my decision about staying or going by next Friday the 16th. I'm still mulling it over.

Headache

I have a killer headache today so my brain doesn't seem to be able to come up with an interesting post. I stole this off Sara's site - it's kind of the easy way out but oh well.

First Day Part II

So far I think I've hit everything on my list except studying...isn't that the way?? It took me much longer to find the frame place and find my way back to the highway than it should of. I HATE driving in Quincy. It seems like it should be so easy but it never is. So just to recap I:

1. Went to the tailors

2. Went to Lowes (forgot the hinges) but got the plywood and got it cut for free!

3. Went to Quincy and picked up my work that had been framed. Spent another $50 on supplies (more than half of that on paper) and then dropped another $200+ for the framing. It's freakin expensive. I hate having things professionally framed because then you have to charge more to cover that cost. I'm only have a few things done for my show. The rest I'll do my self.

4. Stopped at my sister's to get stuff out of my oil painting bag.

5. Went to my aunt's and got her keys.

6. Came to my parents and did laundry. Now I'm waiting for the dryer to be done so I can go to art class. I suppose I could be studying now but somehow this seemed so much more important.

Next I'm off to have dinner (never did get lunch) and then go to art class.
Hopefully I'll have some good work to share tomorrow.

Comments are the life blood of blogging. When I get a new comment I get all warm and tingly. Even if I don't agree with the comment it's great to know that someone has read what is currently falling out of my brain. I try to comment on all the blogs I read. Sometimes I can't, but I try like hell. Especially for people like Kim, ADW, George, Casdok and Victoria.

Now my friend Janedoepa that I met over on the NIN blog has a livejournal. I find it incredibly frustrating to comment on her blog. I always look anonymous...sigh. Anyone who knows me knows I HATE being anonymous!!! So Jane - if you are reading I want you to know that I read you EVERY DAY. I'll try to figure out the damn comment thing, I promise.

OK so the point of my small rant here is that according to my site meter I've got people all over the world looking at my blog - I would love it if those people would comment. I'm especially interested in how they found me. When I comment somewhere new I usually try to say "found you through....." just in case they were curious.

OK the painting I am working on is probably dry by now. Back to the art table.

Blog Friends Are The BEST

Victoria one of my Blog Buddies (or bluddies as adw would say) gave me great advice and told me to change my browser from Safari to Firefox on my Mac and that some of the things I was bitching about would work. She was right! As you noticed I put in two links which I couldn't do with Safari.

Ok Thesis meeting on Sunday - need to get back to it. It's pouring rain here and I love that sound. I'm dog sitting for friends while they are in Miami at the Pat's game. The house is great, the dogs are great and best of all it's quiet. I also get paid pretty well - but that's neither here nor there. I can spread out my stuff get some work done - the phone doesn't ring (well if it does I don't have to answer it) and for some reason the TV is screwed up so I can't watch it (this is a very very good thing).

I do however have to go into work tomorrow morning which sucks major ass. The only good thing is that I am going in the direction anyway to a cooking class in the am.

I love pop culture especially anything having to do with music and movies. I found this blog and now I don't have to do any digging around the Internet. Whitney just lays it all there for me and I just point and click.

It's the kind of blog that you keep open at the bottom of your screen and obsessively refresh to see what else has been posted.

Thoughts on school and blogging

As I mentioned in that oh so swanky "about me" box I'm a full time college student. I am getting my Bachelors in Psychology from Lesley University in Cambridge, MA. They offer this tremendous program called the Learning Community Bachelors Low Residency Program. Basically twice a year you hole up for a week at a hotel with 20-30 other adult learners. During this week you meet faculty, plan studies (not packets people, studies)and learn more about yourself and your learning style that you probably ever wanted to know. People take anywhere between 6-18 credits that are due during the six months in between residencies. I just passed in a paper that was due yesterday, it was a three credit elective course and I did it on Chairman Mao and the Cultural Revolution in China. You see that's the best thing, you get to pick what you want to learn! It's a hard program, you have to be self disciplined and humble enough to reach out to friends, other students and faculty when you are in trouble. I probably have it the easiest. I'm single, live alone and have no kids. There are plenty of people who have husbands, kids, pets...you name it. My biggest time issue is my job..but thats for another time. Anyway, I've met some incredible people and made some fabulous friends that I know I will keep for the rest of my life. That in itself is a strange thing. Making new friends at 39. These friends have added a whole new dimension to my life and I am forever grateful for that.

This whole blogging thing is just a bit bizarre. You can follow the lives of people that you don't even know. Check out this blog that I found completely by accident. I am able to follow this man's life as he re-enlists in the Marines just so he can go back to Iraq. Through his site I can follow his sister's journey while adopting a child. It's all so surreal...but I have to admit I like it.
