Some Comments

These are some comments for the people who drive on 95 South everyday through Rhode Island.

(I'm not going to be nice...you were warned. Shut up Maria I can too be nice when I want to).

OK you fucking assholes let's get somethings straight:

* Maybe you missed the memo but the contest to see how close you could ride my bumper has been canceled so BACK THE FUCK OFF

* Contrary to what most people think the 6-8 fucking inches I leave between me and the car in front of me IS NOT an invitation for you to slide your fucking piece of shit in front of me

* I don't know where you went to driving school bitch but high beams are NOT for highway driving

*Here is a little tip - if there are people in front of me no matter how close you are to me or how much you want to get around me I'VE GOT NO WHERE TO GO fucker

* The left lane is known for as the high speed lane for a reason - if you are confused look it up jackass

* Your tinted windows, dual exhaust BMW with those asinine brass testicles hanging off the back does not impress me. So just take your backwards hat gangsta leaning self and get the fuck out of my way

* Route 295 is a left hand exit and has been since I was at least 5 years old. So you assholes who bomb down the left hand lane and then act all surprised when the exit comes up either need to learn how to read the signs or have a little humility when you are trying to cut the rest of us off so you don't end up in Fall River. Look, I don't want to end up there either so you know what I do? I PAY FUCKING ATTENTION. Christ, what are you? New?

* I've never driven in a state where people who are in accidents or broken down actually pull off to the left. Are you people just asking to get picked off?

OK I feel a little better now and I don't have to drive down there tomorrow so that makes everything a little better.

Good Music

It's no secret that I love music. It's like oxygen to me. I don't do many things without my iPod in, the radio on or music coming out of my computer (drives my boss crazy). I can remember the exact moment that I became completely enthralled with music and musicians. No, it's not when Pretty Hate Machine came out it was far earlier than than.

Barbara M. my friend growing up had 4 brothers who were all older.. One day when I was over there I walked into Dennis's room and there on the wall was the biggest poster I had ever seen. It was of one band but had multiple pictures on it. One of the pictures was this one That was it - I was hooked. Jimmy Page just looked so BAD up there - I just had to have him (you know what I mean).

And there began my love affair with both Jimmy Page and rock and roll.

Now today was the Led Zepplin reunion concert over in England. I would have loved to have been there. Tonight I am house sitting at a friends house and they just got a 65 inch flat screen TV. It's ridiculously big and it KICKS ASS. They also have satellite and get every channel in the world. So I head over to VH1 classic and lo and behold they are playing The Song Remains The Same. I turn it right on and turn it way up (he also has great sound attached to the big tv). It was FABULOUS.

Robert Plant is crazy sexy with pants so tight you can tell his religion. He doesn't dance so much as slither and I mean slither in a really good way.

Everyone is dressed really really bad. It is after all the 70's. John Paul Jone is wearing these brown bell bottoms with the awful cowboy looking shirt and he keeps looking around like he's waiting for someone to tell him what to do. John Bonham - well we don't like to speak ill of the dead but let's just say he could have used some fashion tips too.

But of course the best was Jimmy. He has on this black and silver suit with moons and stars and planets and all kinds of stuff. No, it isn't this suit but this just shows you how bad the 70's clothing really was.
And let's not forget the music. My absolute favorite song is Immigrant Song. If you listen real close you hear the crazy bass line. I love it. My favorite album is Led Zepplin III. It has so many great songs on it - Tangerine, That's The Way. Gallows Pole and of course Immigrant Song. Great record from beginning to end.
This is the kind of music I want my nieces and my young cousins to listen to and to understand - instead they are listening to 50 cent and Fall Out Boy. I feel like such a failure.....

Appropriate Punishment

You would have had to be hiding under a rock somewhere (or live outside the US) to not know about Michael Vick's charges of dog fighting and cruelty to animals.

He was sentenced to 23 months in jail and a one million dollar fine. There are rumors that he will have to pay back his signing bonus. Frankly I don't think that's enough. If you watch this man talk and watch him apologize it's clear he still doesn't think he's done anything wrong. The man has no soul in his eyes - it's really quite scary and frankly sad.

I don't know if he's been released from his team yet - but if he hasn't I hope they do soon. There are so many thugs in major league sports it's really disheartening. If you don't believe me read this book

This book focuses on the NFL but I'm sure that one could be written for every sport.

I'm not going to get all soap box preachy it's just that these are the men that our kids look up to. They should live up to that responsibility.

On the flip side we have LaDainian Tomlinson. He was on 60 minutes last night and the work he does off the field is much more important than what he does on the field. With his own money he gives out scholarships to students at his old high school, buys tons of presents for kids in the hospital and spends time there when he delivers them and runs at least football three camps in the summer. He doesn't just fund them - he works them.

Now imagine if every athlete who had the means to do this stuff did. What an amazing country we would have.

OK I guess I was getting on the soap box. I'll step down now.

13-0 BABY

34 - 13

Only three more games to go...

The Patriots

VS.

Today the Pat's take on the Steelers. This is always a hard game for me because Pittsburgh is my 2nd favorite team. I went to school out there and loved how much they loved their team. I also have a mad crush on Bill Cowher.(I still do)I have no idea why - I just loved the way he coached and the passion he was never afraid to show.

It's going to be a tough game and my friend Lisa in Pittsburgh will be harassing me every 10 minutes via text message I'm sure. That's always fun.

Apparently we are the most hated team in football right now. Our unbeaten streak is really getting on people's nerves. Especially when we squeak by like we did last week. Did you know that the Ravens/Patriots game was the most watched cable TV event in HISTORY? Pretty wild huh? I have to tell you that New England fans relish being the most hated fans. Why you ask? Because for so many years the Pat's sucked - so we are enjoying this run of three Superbowls in 4 years and the streak we are on right now.

One of the major reasons people hate us is our coach. He's a curmudgeon for sure but he certainly knows what he is doing. And the whole spygate thing earlier in the year. Please. You know everyone does it and they were just making an example of Bill. And now he's giving the league a big old FUCK YOU by winning. Thatta boy. Oh and he wants to remind you:

This is how good we are.

Then there is our quarterback...sigh. What can you say about Tom. He came in when Drew Bledsoe was hurt and never looked back. Poor Drew he must have seen it from the minute Tom walked on the field. I never liked Drew but I have to say he handled that whole thing with class.

Yes we know Tom just had a baby with Bridget something or other. I'm not going to get into that. I have my own opinons that involve the word TRAP. I don't buy it The oops! I'm pregnant. Not for a minute!! Now she has a connection to Tom forever. Good job Bridget.

I don't give a shit who he dates or who he sleeps with as long as it doesn't interfere with the winning of games. I wouldn't kick Trent out of bed for him but he's still pretty cute.

GO PATRIOTS!!!

I'll Admit It

Yes - I'll admit it I read Perez Hilton pretty much every day (sometimes two times a day). I think it's hysterical and ridiculous and a nice break from the stress of everyday life. And come one - that shit he does to the pictures is immature and freakin funny as hell.

Well when I opened it up today who do I see? My man Trent Reznor being quoted off his website.

I guess that means you finally made it huh Trent? Getting yourself posted on Perez? I bet you wept with joy - yeah right.

For those Nine Inch Nails fans who have been hiding under a rock check out their homepage/blog as they are letting us in on bits and pieces of the new recordings. Sometimes it pictures and sometimes its youtube video stuff. The funniest part is that people can comment and some of the comments get really really nasty. I'll never understand that. Why bother to check the site and comment if you don't like Trent, what he stands for or his music? Move along people - nothing to see here.

And more goodies for you Nine Inch Nails fans - check out the remix site. There is some unbelievable stuff on here and you can download it all for free. Just another reason to love the man....

Well besides this

Show Me Yours...

I am totally stealing this idea from Victoria.

What's something that I probably wouldn't know about you if I knew you in real life?

Me? Let me think about it and I'll post it in a while (no really I will).

UPDATE: OK so most of my friends know that I was a Buffy and Angel addict. But there is this whole fan fiction underworld on the web and I love it. I read fan fiction all the time - and some of it should be rated freakin X. Check it out here. It's just like reading a book - it's written and posted in chapters and some of the writing is really tremendous.

Where Are They Now?

This just came on my iTunes. Remember this song? What a great one hit wonder in the 80's.

So that got me in the "where are they now" frame of mind...

This was not Level 42's big hit (Something About You was) but I loved this song. I didn't even know there was a video for it - thank you youtube

And come one what would a retrospective be without these guys....

At least one of you out there tried to have this hairstyle - I know you did!

Now Johnette Napolitano is hands down my favorite female voice EVER in rock and roll. She's still doing her solo thing but I don't think enough people know about Concrete Blonde beyond the one MTV hit "Joey" which doesn't even begin to do them justice. This is from Mexican Moon - my favorite Concrete Blonde album

Ok now I love old school hip hop - I mean the real thing I loved NWA so it stands to reason that I'd love Dr. Dre. Look at how young Snoop is here, he actually looks shy and his hair is so short. Yes I know the gun thing is not cool - we're all adults here so deal

I want my car to do that...and I think Dre is HOT

I never understood why Paul Young wasn't more popular - he was cute, had great hair and a kick ass voice - he also later did a great cover of the Chi-Lites "Oh Girl"

And finally my punk rock crush.....

Now wasn't that a lot better than writing the 10 pages I was supposed to write tonight? Yes, I thought so too

Thanks

First of all thank you to all of you who emailed, phoned and left comments wishing me a happy birthday. I really appreciated it. I had a great birthday - lots of fun.

This song just played on my iTunes. I had forgotten how much I loved it. Lauryn Hill - so much talent.
